Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka (Collaborating with UK Teams)

The Role

We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to bridge the gap between complex business problems and scalable, production-grade AI solutions. You will lead the development of Generative AI applications, ensuring high-quality code and seamless integration within a fast-paced, cross-border environment.

Key Responsibilities

• AI Development: Design and deploy GenAI/LLM applications using modern frameworks like LangChain and LangGraph.

• Engineering Excellence: Write clean, maintainable Python code and build robust APIs using FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

• Data Orchestration: Manage end-to-end data pipelines and transformations using Pandas, SQL, and PySpark.

• Deployment & Ops: Lead containerization and orchestration efforts to ensure solutions are scalable and production-ready.

• Strategic Collaboration: Act as a key technical link between our Colombo office and UK-based teams, translating business needs into technical roadmaps.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.

• Experience: 3+ years in Software Engineering, Data Science, or AI Engineering.

• GenAI Expertise: Proven track record of fine-tuning LLMs, prompt engineering, and building agentic frameworks.

• Technical Stack: Proficiency in Python, Azure, and Databricks, with hands-on experience in CI/CD and containerization.

• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and thrive in an offshore-onshore team model.

Bonus Points

• Experience with distributed computing (Spark) and managing large-scale datasets
