The Purpose

Join Sri Lanka’s premier digital powerhouse and help shape the future of AI-driven decision-making. We are seeking an exceptional Associate Lead – Data Scientist to spearhead end-to-end AI/ML solutions, mentor a high-performing team, and deliver transformative insights across the Group.

The Role

• Strategic Impact: Drive analytics initiatives that directly fuel revenue growth, cost optimization, and EBITDA targets.

• Lifecycle Leadership: Oversee the full AI solution lifecycle—from planning and architecture to deployment and long-term maintenance.

• Stakeholder Management: Translate complex analytical insights into actionable intelligence for senior leadership.

• Team Mentorship: Lead and develop a team of Data Analysts and Scientists, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of models.

• Operational Excellence: Manage resource onboarding, team capabilities, and the design of scalable AI/ML architectures.

• Technical Execution: Build robust statistical and machine learning models (Supervised/Unsupervised) using R or Python for both POCs and production.

• Integration & Scalability: Collaborate with app dev teams to integrate models into downstream systems and ensure performance at scale.

• Optimization: Continuously monitor and refine model performance through active feedback loops.

• Innovation & R&D: Conduct research into emerging technologies and lead R&D initiatives to keep the organization at the cutting edge.

The Person

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

• Core Expertise: Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and hands-on proficiency in R/Python.

• Data Fluency: Strong skills in data visualization, communication, and data engineering within Big Data or Cloud environments.

• Experience: A minimum of 4+ years in Data Science.

• Certifications: * Minimum score of 70% on the Data Scientist Entry Exam (for external candidates).

  • AFF Data Science (Basic) certification is a distinct advantage.

• Mindset: A continuous learner with a passion for innovation and a drive for excellence.
