CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER (CIO)

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Policy: Develop and implement ICT strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the Bank’s overall corporate objectives.

Operations & Infrastructure: Ensure robust day-to-day IT support and infrastructure, maintaining system integrity, equipment allocation, and a comprehensive disaster recovery program.

Software Management: Oversee all software development and maintenance, staying current with modern development practices and platforms.

Innovation & Consultation: Provide expert guidance on technological developments and translate business requirements into cost-effective technical solutions.

Business Alignment: Identify and adapt to “business-based trends” within the banking sector to maintain a competitive edge.

Financial Oversight: Develop and administer the IT Departmental budget and the Bank’s IT capital expenditure.

Vendor & Contract Management: Negotiate and manage all contracts, leases, and service agreements, including outsourced and managed services.

Procurement & Compliance: Evaluate and procure banking-related applications while ensuring strict adherence to CBSL guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to manage and optimize a sizable IT infrastructure.
Qualifications and Experience

Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Engineering from a recognized university.

Experience: 8 to 10 years of managerial experience in IT, including a Senior Management role within a reputable organization (preferably a bank or large financial institution).

Certifications: Membership in recognized IT bodies and professional credentials (e.g., CISM, TOGAF, ITIL, ISACA, PMI) are highly desirable.

Technical Expertise: Proven track record in IT operations, enterprise architecture, system implementation, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.

Strategic Skills: Ability to align IT with business goals, drive innovation (AI, Data Analytics, Cloud), and manage IT risk and cost optimization.
General Conditions

Age: Below 55 years as of the closing date of applications.

Employment Terms: This is a Corporate Management position (equivalent to Deputy General Manager) on a contract basis. Performance will be evaluated annually.

Remuneration: An attractive and negotiable package will be offered, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
