The Role

As a Junior Associate, you will ensure the seamless execution of shipping operations by managing documentation, coordinating with authorities, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement: Respond to inquiries via phone and email; issue timely and accurate cargo arrival notices.
Manifest & Documentation: Finalize inward cargo manifests and coordinate with Main Line Operators (MLO) for customs reporting.
Operational Oversight: Identify special cargo types (transshipments, groupage) and notify relevant stakeholders to prevent demurrage or additional charges.
System Management: Update cargo systems and issue delivery orders upon verifying documentation and payments.
Compliance: Submit timely cargo details to Sri Lanka Customs and the Ports Authority to facilitate smooth clearance.
Administrative Support: Maintain organized records of delivery orders and bank guarantees; handle physical delivery of documents or payments to port/customs as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Education: An undergraduate or graduate degree in Supply Chain and Logistics (from CINEC, SLIIT, KDU, or equivalent).
Basic Requirements: Minimum of 6 passes at GCE O/L, including a “C” grade in Mathematics.
Tech Savvy: Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, with a knack for data analysis and reporting.
Core Competencies: Ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines with high accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
