Role Overview
The Assistant Manager of Market Insights & Analytics will support and drive the company’s fuel trading and hedging strategy. In this role, you will leverage data-driven market insights to execute buy/sell decisions and manage price risk exposure. You will play a critical part in optimizing financial margins through effective commodity trading, tailored hedging strategies, and sharp market intelligence within the marine fuel (bunkering) business.
Key Responsibilities
Market Analysis & Intelligence

Monitor global oil and marine fuel markets, tracking key trends across Brent, WTI, Singapore Gasoil, and VLSFO.

Analyze supply-demand dynamics, geopolitical developments, and macroeconomic indicators that impact fuel prices.

Deliver daily and weekly market reports featuring actionable insights and forward-looking price outlooks.
Trading Decision Support

Recommend optimal buy/sell strategies for bunker fuel procurement and sales operations.

Support pricing decisions for client quotations based on real-time market movements.

Identify arbitrage opportunities and execute margin optimization strategies.
Hedging & Risk Management

Develop and implement hedging strategies using financial derivatives, including swaps, futures, and options.

Monitor the company’s exposure to price volatility and propose effective risk mitigation actions.

Track hedge effectiveness to ensure continuous alignment with the company’s risk appetite.
Trade Execution & Coordination

Assist in executing trades in strict alignment with approved corporate strategies and risk limits.

Ensure accurate trade documentation and full compliance with internal controls.
Performance Tracking & Reporting

Analyze overall trading performance, margins, and hedging outcomes.

Prepare comprehensive reports evaluating the P&L impact of all trading and hedging activities.

Maintain data dashboards to track key performance, trading, and risk indicators.
Candidate Specifications
-
Education: A Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a closely related field.

Qualifications: Professional credentials such as CFA, FRM, or an equivalent qualification will be a distinct advantage.

Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in commodity trading, oil & gas, shipping, or financial markets.

Preferred Background: Direct exposure to fuel trading, financial derivatives, or corporate risk management.
