Merchandiser – Development

Location: MAS Activewear, Biyagama, Sri Lanka

The Role

The Activewear Value Stream delivers high-performance sportswear and athleisure solutions across the sports, lifestyle, and performance segments. Serving a global elite—including Nike, lululemon, Patagonia, Ralph Lauren, and Gymshark—we operate across Sri Lanka, Jordan, and Indonesia, blending technical functionality with cutting-edge fashion.

We are seeking a dedicated Merchandiser – Development to drive the product lifecycle from the initial “Proto request” through to the final buy process. You will play a key role in achieving sales budgets and business objectives by ensuring high service levels and maximum customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • System Management: Accurately create style pages in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and development portal; maintain up-to-date data to ensure earnings thresholds are met.

  • Sample Development: Lead the 3D sample development process and coordinate Proto, GGP, and SPA sample stages.

  • Project Kickoff: Initiate development meetings upon receipt of proto kits and disseminate critical information to all internal stakeholders.

  • Sourcing & Coordination: Source fabrics and raw materials to ensure samples are completed on time; collaborate with the Product Development Centre (PDC), planning, and sourcing teams to secure approvals for fit and costing.

  • Costing & Negotiation: Prepare detailed costing sheets on PLM and negotiate pricing terms, lead times, and minimum order quantities (MOQs).

  • External Engagement: Support development initiatives, including customer onsite visits and specialized sampling projects, ensuring product quality and timeliness.

  • Order Processing: Identify style volumes upon receipt of the buy and execute all buy-processing activities.

  • Relationship Management: Proactively manage relationships with key customer decision-makers to provide tailored solutions.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Education: A Degree in Marketing or a relevant professional qualification.

  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in Product Development, with knowledge of fabrics, embellishments, and sampling processes is highly advantageous.

  • Competencies: Strong communication and negotiation skills, coupled with excellent people and time management abilities.
